I'm Addicted!!....

When I was in my sophomore year of high school, you weren't considered as cool unless you had a myspace profile page. One day during my lunch period, all of my friends seemed to be talking about all of these different events and conversations that took place on myspace. They just kept talking about who left comments on someone's page, how they cant believe some of the pictures that some girl put up, the background and design of some of the different pages, or how insulted they were that someone didnt put someone else on their top list. I had no idea what they were talking about so I finally just gave in and created one. This was one of the best and worst thing I ever did. The good news is that I was finally able to take part in the conversations during lunch because I was now actually able to see what they were talking about. The bad side is that I was now at the point of no return... I WAS ADDICTED TO MYSPACE!! My addiction is so bad that I cant be infront of a computer without going to check my myspace. After a while, the myspace craze died down a little, but a new one took over. This new type of internet profile page is called Facebook. Personally, I like facebook better because their are more things to do. Yes, you can't design your background but their are so many other options. My addiction to facebook is worse than my addiction for myspace. I have to check my facebook multiple times a day or else!!!! These profiles are a good way to keep in touch with people you don't really see anymore. I am truly addicted to my facebook and myspace but I love it!! If you don't have one, get one!!!!

My school getaway.....

Every Tuesday and Thursday I have three classes with a very long break in between them. My first class ends at 10:35 in the morning and my next class isn't until 1:30 in the afternoon. What is someone supposed to do with all of that time on their hands?? There is the occasional time where I will need to go to the library and use the computer to try and get some work done but most of the time I do not feel like sticking around my campus for almost three hours. I am lucky that two of my friends have the same time off in between classes. So instead of being bored around campus my friends an I decide to go on little adventures... One day my friend Marie took us to get pizza in Brooklyn, a place called L&B Pizza. I had said that I had never been there before so she said that we had to go. Ever since that day I can't get enough of it. I would have to say that it was by far the best pizza I ever had. From now on, every week on Tuesdays and Thursdays during our long break in between our classes, we escape to L&B Pizza! Tasting this remarkable pizza made me wonder about the origin of this place and what they put in the pizza. All of the information I could find was that Spumoni Gardens was founded by Ludovico Barbati in 1939. L&B is now in it's 69th year of operation, and has been family owned and operated from the beginning. Since 1939, it has become a Brooklyn Landmark. The times have changed, but not at L&B. Generations later... the Italian Ices and Spumoni Grandpa sold off his horse drawn wagon are still the same. Although I will most likely never find out how this wonderful pizza is created, I look forward to enjoying it on a regular basis. It really gives me something to look forward to every week!! Yummy!! You should all go and get some!!

Enchanted Dreams...

I remember when I was a little girl, I loved to pretend that I was a Disney princess. My favorite princess was Belle from Beauty and the Beast. I was in my glory the first time my parents took me to Disny World in Orlando, Florida. All I kept thinking to myself was that I was really going to meet Belle!! That glorious day came when my family and I were walking through the park and we saw Belle standing under a tree taking pictures with other little girls. I waited my turn in line and she finally turned to me and asked me what my name was. I was so excited that I couldnt even answer her, so my mother told her that my name was Alyssa. She gave me a big hug and told me that I was a beautiful little girl and to always stay as sweet as you are. As a five- year- old, this was a very important event in my life. For the entire rest of the trip, all I could think about was how I got to meet Princess Belle. Now fourteen years later, instead of thinking about meeting princesses,I think about Walt Disney himself and how he was able to create such a magical place where dreams really can come true. My five-year-old dream of meeting Belle came true, and I'm sure a lot of other people's dreams came true as well. I was curious to find out how this all started, so I looked it up. I found that, like everything, this magical place started out as a dream. In 1955, Walt Disney's dream became a reality. "Disneyland Park, his vision of a magical destination where families could come together to create memories that last a lifetime, opened its doors to the world. See the original classic attractions, entertainment, dining and shopping that has inspired and continues to inspire generations of imagination and enchantment." Not only has Walt Disney created this magical theme park, but wonderful and unforgettable movies that speak to your heart. For example, from such classics as Fantasia, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and Beauty and the Beast to more current additions such as Ratatouille and one of my favorites Enchanted. Along with the theme park and movies, Walt Disney created some characers that will forever be remembered such as Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald DUck, Goofy. I would have to say that Walt Disney World really is a magical place where dreams come true that I can't wait to take my future children to. It is more than a theme park or a movie, it is almost a right of passage and a legacy that will last forever.

Life On My Block....

When I first moved into the house I am in now, I was only nine months old, my brother Chris was almost 2 and a half, and my oldest brother Rob was about fourteen. For the longest time we were the only children on the block and had to rely on each other for entertainment purposes. When I was in about the second or third grade, a family moved in with a boy my age and a girl about six years younger than me. We got along pretty well, and actually ended up going to the same elementary school. But as we got older, we just kind of grew apart. Now we live our own separate lives and wave to each other every once in a while if we happen to see each other outside getting in the car or something. Their family has actually recently put their house up for sale. Anyway, when I was in about the fifth grade, another family, with one boy(joey) my age and a girl(Lauren) two years younger, moved into the corner house. This was probably one of the best moments of my life. I remember my brother and I looking out the window and trying to see how old they looked and how many children there were, sice this was the winter time it was difficult to tell due to the use of hats/hoods and bulky jackets. I finally worked up enough courage to go over there and ring their doorbell to introduce myself and meet them. I am extremely glad that I did!! They have literally become my second family. I am very close with both Lauren and Joe, they are more than just my best friends, they really are a part of my family. This relationshiop goes for the parents as well. They are like my second parents. We do almost everything together. For example concerts, hanging out until whenever, trips to the city, movies, bowling, attempting to go sledding..haha...etc.. you get the point. No matter what we do we always have a blast together. I am always over there, its my second house. Lauren and Joe don't even have to be home, I can go and sit with their mom and have a blast. I can call any of them and talk about anything. I really do love them all as family and would do anything for them. I am truly Blessed to have this family in my life and will never forget the day they moved on my block...
